GROH-ING SENSE OF IMPENDING DOOM: Another blowout loss

UConn. had a tough time beating Temple. Showing that Al Golden knows something that Al Groh doesn’t.

That 45-10 loss that the Huskies hung on Groh’s Cavs might as well have been 45,000,000-10 the way it’s going over in Hooville.

My take: I agree with UVa. radio color commentator Frank Quayle, who remarked during Saturday night’s game that he hadn’t seen a team knife through a UVa. defense like that since the ’70s.

Yes, folks, it’s that bad in Virginia Football Land, and it’s not going to get any better anytime soon.

Looking at the schedule, I see one or two games in which the ‘Hoos might be able to realistically get a W, and that’s it.

BREWERS FIRE NED YOST? REALLY? Pennant-race theatrics in Brewtown

I’m still reeling from this. Yost has Milwaukee on the door knocking to get in the playoff picture for the first time in a quarter-century, and they fire him with 12 games to go because of a 3-7 slump?

This makes absolutely no sense. A pox on Milwaukee and their attempt to break their postseason jinx.

GIMME A PRESS PASS: Tryin’ to get in to the Game of the Year

I’ve had to endure two pathetic college-football games in UVa.-USC and UVa.-UR. I’m trying to get credentialed for the JMU-App State game in Harrisonburg Saturday night mainly because it might be my one chance to see some good college football played in person this year.

(That, and I’m not flying out to Nebraska to see the Huskers take on the Hokies. But I still think JMU-App State is better.)

I’M NOT SAYING ANYTHING BAD ABOUT ED HOCHULI. Guess why?

You seen the guy’s guns? He could tie me into a pretzel and make me denounce the day my mother was born.

That said, Eddie, hey, guess you won’t be doin’ anything in January. Want to come over and watch the Super Bowl on the big screen?
