One person is dead from injuries sustained in a mobile home fire reported in the 1500 block of Simmons Gap Road in Dyke in Albemarle County late Sunday night.
The fire was called in at 9:48 p.m., per a report from Albemarle County Fire Rescue, which notes that an ACFR battalion chief arrived on scene at 10:07 p.m. to find a mobile home fully engulfed by fire.
The first fire suppression apparatus arrived at 10:09 p.m., and crews began searching for occupants and working to bring the fire under control.
One resident was inside the residence at the time of the fire and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office.
