The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum will participate in the Blue Star Museum program and offer free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day, May 31, through Labor Day, September 6, 2010.
The Blue Star Museum program is a partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and more than 600 museums in all 50 states across America. The free admission program is available to active duty military and their immediate family members (military ID holder and five immediate family members), which includes active duty Reserve and active duty National Guard.
“As the Commander-in-Chief during World War I, President Wilson regularly recognized the sacrifices of soldiers and their families,” said Don W. Wilson, president and CEO of the Presidential Library. “The Presidential Library is pleased to honor our military personnel who have dedicated their lives to serving our country. We invite active military members and their families to visit and see our new World War I trench exhibit, in addition to President Wilson’s birthplace and museum. I am pleased that two of our partners, the Frontier Culture Museum of Virginia in Staunton and the Edith Bolling Wilson Birthplace and Museum in Wytheville, are among the hundreds of museums also participating.”
The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum is open 360 days a year for guests from around the world to tour the President’s Birthplace, the Museum, and the historic gardens. In addition, thousands of schoolchildren participate in educational programming each year.
