william & maryThe William & Mary men’s basketball team turned in a strong second-half performance on the defensive end in picking up its second straight road win to open the 2015-16 season, 70-59, at Liberty on Tuesday night.

In the second 20 minutes, the Tribe limited the Flames (2-1) to just 21 points on 30.4 percent (7-of-23) shooting and just 1-of-12 from 3-point range. W&M opened the year with two straight road wins for just the third time in program history and the first since the 1945-46 season.

Tarpey added a game-high eight rebounds and was 5-of-6 from the floor, while Sheldon finished the night at 6-of-8 from the floor to go with three assists. Sophomores Greg Malinowski and Jack Whitman each chipped in nine points off the bench. Malinowski and junior Daniel Dixon shared team-high rebounding honors with Tarpey at eight apiece.

The Tribe opens the home portion of the 2015-16 slate when it welcomes Washington Adventist to Kaplan Arena on Thursday, Nov. 19. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live for FREE in HD on Tribe Athletics TV via Stretch Internet. Tribe fans can also listen into the broadcast over the Tribe Radio Network with Jay Colley and Charlie Woollum on the call. The Tide 92.3 FM and 107.9 Bach FM are the flagship stations of the Tribe Radio Network and the audio is also available over the Web at TribeAthletics.com.
