William and Mary receiver Tre McBride taken by Tennessee Titans in 2015 NFL Draft

wm-logoFormer William and Mary standout wide receiver Tre McBride was selected by the Tennessee Titans with the 245th overall pick in the seventh round of the NFL Draft on Saturday afternoon.

McBride becomes the fifth Tribe player selected in NFL Draft since 2009, which leads the Colonial Athletic Association and ranks third among programs in Virginia (trailing only Virginia and Virginia Tech). Additionally, McBride joins a group of six former Tribe standouts who are currently on NFL rosters: R.J. Archer (Seattle Seahawks), Jerome Couplin III (Philadelphia Eagles), Jonathan Grimes (Houston Texans), Mike Leach (Arizona Cardinals), Sean Lissemore (San Diego Chargers) and B.W. Webb (Pittsburgh Steelers).

McBride participated in the East-West Shrine Game and NFL Scouting Combine earlier this spring after wrapping up an outstanding collegiate career with the Tribe.

One of the country’s most dynamic playmakers, McBride is a three-time all-conference selection and garnered All-America distinction as a junior. As a senior, he ranked second in the CAA with 131.2 all-purpose yards per game and ranked fourth in both receptions per game (5.8) and receiving yards per game (73.5). Additionally, the McDonough, Ga., native finished the season with 64 catches for 809 yards and four touchdowns. Highlighting his performances was an 11-catch, 209-yard effort versus Villanova.

In addition to ranking second at W&M in career receptions (196), McBride also ranks fifth in receiving yards (2,653), tied for sixth in touchdown catches (19), fifth in all-purpose yards (4,281) and fifth in kickoff return yards (1,294).
