You might have read about Kai Trump, the 18-year-old granddaughter of wannabe First Golfer Donald Trump, getting a DEI invite to an LPGA Tour event.
‘Tis true – the younger Trump, the daughter of Don Jr. and his ex-wife, Vanessa, ranked 977th in the Universal Golf Rankings’ junior girls rankings, and tied for 70th among South Florida PGA Juniors – got a sponsor exemption to The Annika, which will be held Nov. 13-16 at Pelican Golf Club in the Tampa-St. Pete area.
If you’ve already heard this, you might have also heard about the nepo grandbaby’s disastrous 52-over finish at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley earlier this year.
For those who don’t follow golf, no, 52-over for four rounds of golf, not good – her scores were 89-79-83-89.
I tried to find more info on her golf game to try to see if this showing was an outlier, and from the appearances of it, actually, unfortunately for her, no.
I mean, she’s had her moments, at least on the South Florida PGA Juniors circuit – for instance, she went 76-77 to finish at 11-over and in a tie for third (total field: 18 golfers) at the Srixon Medalist Tour-Lost City event in July.
OK, so, that was her moment.
She scored 86-74 to finish 17-over and in a tie for 19th (total field: 28 golfers) at 41st Nicklaus Junior Championship in June.
Her most recent event was the Arnold Palmer Junior Invitational in August, where she shot 82-83-86 to finish at 35-over and place 26th (total field: 27 golfers).
Her average round for those three events: nine shots over par.
She struggles to break 80.
“My dream has been to compete with the best in the world on the LPGA Tour,” the Trump granddaughter said of the invite to The Annika. “This event will be an incredible experience. I look forward meeting and competing against so many of my heroes and mentors in golf as I make my LPGA Tour debut.”
Everybody involved in this should be ashamed, but won’t be.
