Virginia Transit Association welcomes new leaders

newspaperThe Virginia Transit Association unanimously elected Falls Church Councilor, The Honorable David Snyder, as President of the Association at its meeting on Tuesday, May 24 in Fredericksburg.

Snyder has served on the Falls Church City Council since 1994 and as Mayor and Vice
Mayor. He has been a strong advocate for public transit in many leadership positions including
the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission, the Northern Virginia Transportation
Authority and the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.

The VTA Board also elected The Honorable Chad Green as Vice-President. Green recently joined the York County Board of Supervisors and represents District 3. He is an attorney, author, and civic leader.

William Harrell, CEO and President of Hampton Roads Transit, was reelected as Treasurer.

Sandy Modell, General Manager of Alexandria Transit (DASH) was reelected as Secretary.

VTA is a coalition of transit professionals from public and private organizations; it includes
transit systems from across the state, businesses that serve transit systems and local
government officials and organizations concerned about transportation, mobility, affordable
access to employment and quality of life issues.

Founded in 1977, the Virginia Transit Association (VTA) provides public education and
legislative advocacy to support public transportation throughout the Commonwealth.
