Virginia Tech head athletic trainer Mike Goforth announced Monday that sophomore cornerback Brandon Facyson suffered a tibia and fibula fracture of his left leg at practice on Sunday and underwent surgery Sunday evening at LewisGale Montgomery by team orthopedic surgeon Dr. Tony McPherron.Facyson sat out the spring practice session with a stress reaction in his left leg and had a bone graft procedure to aid the healing process after spring concluded. He tried to return to the field this year, playing in the first three games, but re-aggravated the injury and has not played since. This injury is to the same leg he injured last year.
The Newnan, Georgia, native has not redshirted and will apply for a medical hardship waiver.
He was a first-team freshman All-American by 247Sports and a third-team All-ACC selection by ACSMA last year after recording 27 tackles, five interceptions and eight pass break ups in his first season.
Facyson will miss the spring season and is expected to return for the summer.
