Virginia bounced back from its loss at Duke last Monday with a 78-66 win over Florida State on Saturday. The Cavaliers’ swept their two-game season series against the Seminoles for the first time since 2000-01. The Cavaliers are playing their best basketball of the season and their 4-1 start in league play is their best since starting 4-1 in 1994-95.
The Cavaliers’ success has been highlighted by its fourth-ranked defense, rebounding and balanced scoring. The Cavaliers are yielding 56.6 points per game and grabbing 55.4 percent of the rebounds, ruling the glass in 14 of 18 games and enjoying an average rebound margin of +7.8 per game. UVa also ranks 14th in the nation in field goal percentage defense at 37.8 percent.
