We first reported on April 22 that there was talk about UVA Basketball scheduling a game with UConn at Madison Square Garden in Midtown Manhattan on Dec. 20.
Today, four months and change later, we got the official confirmation.
“We are thrilled to announce this tremendous opportunity to play UConn at Madison Square Garden,” ‘Hoos coach Ryan Odom said in a statement. “Madison Square Garden is the world’s most famous arena, and we are excited to bring our program to New York City and compete against one of the premier programs in the country. We have great respect for coach Dan Hurley and UConn, and we know this will be a terrific environment for a college basketball game.”

This is a Sunday game, with a 3 p.m. ET tip, to be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
It’ll be our first UVA Basketball game in the Mecca of Basketball since the 2014 Sweet Sixteen, in the famous “Tevin Jones Got Fouled” game with Michigan State, won by Sparty, 61-59.
The most recent Too Early Top 25, out today, from ESPN.com’s Jeff Borzello, has UConn at #5, and Virginia at #12.
Yesterday, Gary Parrish at CBS Sports had UConn at #4 and UVA at #9 in his updated Top 25 And 1.
I say we go with Parrish on this one.
