UVA Basketball alum Sam Hauser has agreed to a four-year, $45 million contract extension with the NBA world champion Boston Celtics, ESPN reported on Sunday.
Hauser will make $2 million in the upcoming 2024-2025 season, with the extension kicking in for the 2025-2026 season.
Hauser went undrafted after playing his final college season at Virginia in 2020-2021, and had to play his way into the NBA from the G League.
He averaged 18.8 points per game for the Maine Celtics in 2021-2022, earning a callup to Boston, where he saw limited action in 26 games down the stretch that year.
Hauser started to emerge as a rotation guy in 2022-2023, getting 16.1 minutes per game, and averaging 6.4 points per game and shooting 41.8 percent from three-point range.
In 2023-2024, Hauser cemented himself as a key contributor, averaging 9.0 points in 22.0 minutes per game, and shooting 42.4 percent from three.
At Virginia as a grad senior in 2020-2021, Hauser averaged a team-best 16.0 points per game.
He played his first three seasons at Marquette before transferring to Virginia following the 2018-2019 season.
