uva-gtJosh Sborz didn’t allow a Georgia Tech baserunner until the seventh, and the UVA offense erupted in the middle innings, allowing the Cavs to pull away for an 11-0 victory in the opening game of the 2015 ACC Baseball Championship.

The win puts Virginia into the main bracket. The ‘Hoos will face #2 seed Miami at 3 p.m. Wednesday, #3 seed Notre Dame at 11 a.m. Friday, and #6 seed North Carolina State at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Sborz (3-2) was perfect through six innings before giving up a double to pinch-hitter Ryan Peurifoy leading off the seventh. Sborz walked Kennan Innis and Brandon Gold around strikeouts of Matt Gonzalez and A.J. Murray before getting Thomas Smith to fly out to end the seventh.

The last out of the seventh ended the game with Virginia up by more than 10 runs.

Sborz notched his first complete game as a Cav, striking out eight and walking two in the one-hitter.

Daniel Pinero had four RBI and was one of six Cavs with two hits on the afternoon.
