Toronto completes weekend sweep of Baltimore

baltimore oriolesA Baltimore rally came up short in a 10-9 loss at Toronto on Sunday. The win completes a weekend sweep for the Blue Jays (35-30).

The Orioles (36-26) trailed 10-6 in the eighth when Adam Jones (.238/.290/.423) hit a two-run homer, his second of the day, and 11th of the season, to cut the margin to two.

Baltimore loaded the bases in the ninth, and scored on a Pedro Alvarez (.231/.314/.448) sac fly. With two down in the inning, Jonathan Schoop (.268/.300/.455) struck out to end it.

Alvarez (7), Chris Davis (16) and Matt Wieters (6) each homered for the O’s.

Ubaldo Jimenez (3-7, 6.89 ERA) didn’t make it out of the first inning, giving up five runs on six hits in a third of an inning.

Aaron Sanchez (6-1, 3.38 ERA) got the win, giving up six runs on 10 hits in five innings, striking out seven and walking three.
