jennie carrDr. Jennie M. Carr, an assistant professor of elementary education at Bridgewater College, has been named the recipient of the 2014-15 Scholar Award from the Association of Independent Liberal Arts Colleges for Teacher Education (AILACTE).

Carr is a 2005 graduate of Bridgewater who earned her master’s degree at Eastern Mennonite University and her doctorate at Northcentral University. The award recognizes Carr for her research on the application of technology in the classroom and how educators incorporate technology as an aid to building caring relationships.

Carr noted that her research is an important and necessary response to the prevailing concern that technology makes educators less concerned with relationships and community.

The award will be presented at the AILACTE 2015 Annual Meeting and Conference in Atlanta, Ga., Feb. 26.

Bridgewater College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Founded in 1880, it was the state’s first private, coeducational college. Today, Bridgewater College is home to approximately 1,800 undergraduate students.
