Salem Red Sox set to celebrate 75th anniversary

Chris Graham
salem red soxThe Salem Red Sox are excited to share their plans for Tuesday, May 20, which will mark the 75th anniversary of the first ever game played in Salem. On that evening, with the Winston-Salem Dash in town, the Red Sox will host “Turn Back the Clock” Night, featuring numerous special deals and promotions.
All tickets will be lowered to $5, and certain concession items, including hot dogs and popcorn, will be on sale for just $1. In addition, the Red Sox will don replica uniforms that were worn by the Salem-Roanoke Friends in May of 1939. These unique jerseys will bring a nostalgic flavor to the historic night.
After the game, many of the throwback jerseys will be auctioned off, a great opportunity for fans to own a true piece of Roanoke Valley baseball history. There will also be many other great surprises throughout the evening.
While “Turn Back the Clock” Night is less then a month away, the defending carolina league champion Salem Sox are back at LewisGale Field for a week-long homestand beginning tonight, Wednesday, April 23, against the Lynchburg Hillcats. The Sox recently wrapped up a winning road trip to improve to 10-8 on the year. The action begins at 7:05 PM, as the Red Sox host their local rivals from just a short trek down Route 460.
