Route 726 in Rockingham County reopens Sept. 9

Chris Graham

route 726The portion of Route 726 (Stone Spring Road) in Rockingham County that closed in early August will reopen on the morning of Tuesday, September 9. The closure allowed private developers to finish work on the eastern end of the new Stone Port Boulevard, which meets Route 253 (Port Republic Road) at a signalized intersection near Harrisonburg.

Motorists should be alert for the following traffic-pattern changes in this area:

Westbound drivers who need to access Route 726 from Route 253 will use a portion of Stone Port Boulevard, and then turn right onto Route 726.

Eastbound drivers on Route 726 will come to a stop sign at the intersection of Stone Port Boulevard, then turn left to continue toward Route 253.

When it fully opens later this year, Stone Port Boulevard will connect Route 280 (the Harrisonburg Southeast Connector) and Route 253. All work is weather permitting.
