Richmond Spiders basketball releases program-record TV schedule

ur-spiders1Richmond Spiders basketball will have a program-record 28 regular season games broadcast on television this year.

The Spiders will appear on a number of networks from the ESPN family of networks to CBS Sports, NBC Sports, Fox Sports 1, SEC Network, Fox Sports Southwest, Fox Sports Midwest and the American Sports Network. In addition, SpiderTV will produce eight home games that will be carried regionally on Comcast SportsNet (CSN) Mid-Atlantic and locally on WTVR.

UR’s home opener against JMU on November 13 will be carried on WTVR CBS 6.2 (Comcast Channel 207; Verizon FiOS Channel 479) in the Richmond area. Two days later, the Richmond/Stetson game will be carried on CBS 6.3 (Comcast Channel 206; Verizon FiOS Channel 466).

Richmond’s game against Northern Iowa (12/5), picked by the NCAA as the fourth-best non-conference game in the country, will be aired on CSN and CBS 6.3. The Saturday, Dec. 12 home game against Longwood will be on CBS 6.1.

In conference play, the Spiders’ home bout with La Salle (1/13) will air on CBS 6.3 along with the game against George Mason (2/3). Saturday battles with UMass (2/6) and Fordham (2/13) will each be broadcast on CSN+.

Richmond’s national television schedule features two games on CBS Sports Network, three games on NBC Sports Network and four games on an ESPN channel. Six games will be aired on ASN with the two games in Las Vegas shown on Fox Sports 1.

With only two scheduled games not airing on television, 2015-16 sets a new record for most television appearances for Richmond basketball.
