Report: ACC Network to launch in 2019

Chris Graham

acc networkThe ACC and ESPN will launch a cable-TV ACC Network in 2019, according to published online reports Monday night.

The ACC Network will debut this fall as a digital channel, according to sources.

The conference, which includes UVA and Virginia Tech, has also reportedly agreed to a 20-year extension of its current rights deal with ESPN that will run through the 2035-2036 academic year.

The ACC also extended its grant of rights deal through 2035-2036, meaning an extension of its relationship with Notre Dame in all sports but football. If Notre Dame were to forego football independence at any point in the next 20 years, it would have to become a full member of the ACC.

The extension of the grant of rights deal among conference members guarantees that none of the current members will leave the ACC for the duration of that deal. The grant of rights guarantees that the member schools’ media rights and revenue for all home games remain with the ACC regardless of their conference affiliation.
