A 19-year-old man from Waynesboro is being held without bond after a crash that left another driver with serious injuries.
Trayton Michael Rose faces multiple charges in connection with the incident early Saturday morning.
Waynesboro Police report officers tried to stop Rose twice at approximately 1 a.m. for traveling at a high rate of speed in the city.
According to the WPD, the first attempt occurred in the 2600 block of West Main Street. The second attempt was in the 500 block of West Main.
According to police, Rose did not comply with either and continued eastbound on East Main Street. Rose then ran a red light at the intersection of East Main Street and North Delphine Avenue, colliding with a vehicle driven by a 56-year-old Augusta County man, who was transported to UVA Medical Center with serious injuries.
Rose received minor injuries in the crash and was treated at Augusta Health.
Rose has been charged with:
- One count of misdemeanor driving under the influence
- One count of misdemeanor driving without insurance
- Two counts of misdemeanor reckless driving
- Two counts of felony disregarding signal by law-enforcement officer to stop, eluding police
- One count of felony maiming, etc., of another resulting from driving while intoxicated
Rose is currently being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
According to online court records, Rose is represented by a public defender. His next hearing is scheduled for March 24 at 1 p.m. in Waynesboro General District Court.
Rose was previously found guilty of driving with an expired registration, travelling 80 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone and other related charges in November in Montgomery/Christiansburg General District Court. He also faced additional traffic charges in Louisa and Radford general district courts last year.
