Sixth District Congressman Ben Cline says the Republican “no tolerance” immigration policies are a great benefit to the country.

The reality for agriculture is quite different.

WMRA’s Randi B. Hagi reported on the plight of a Page County dairy farm. The Yancey family tried for 28 years to find local labor, but all were unreliable. Dairy cows don’t take vacations; the farm has to operate 24/7/365.

The Yanceys hired four immigrant workers.  The Hispanic workers reliably worked 60+ hours per week. They were legally authorized to live and work in the U.S., and had no criminal records.

In June, ICE and Page County authorities violently arrested the men without cause. The workers were transferred to ICE facilities in other states and deported.

The Yanceys lost half their workforce. They hired replacements, but also had to sell 30 of their 300 cows. Zero-tolerance immigration policy has created hardship for this family farm.

Ben Cline and Donald Trump claim to support family farms. In fact, they are only interested in maintaining power, and don’t care who they harm – even in red areas.

We need to fire Ben Cline, and elect Beth Macy to Congress. We need a representative who will truly work for the farmers of the Sixth District.
