People Places hires new regional director

PP_colorBIGPeople Places Inc. announced that it has hired Lisa Columbo as the regional director for its Staunton office.

Columbo is currently the branch director for the Harrisonburg office of DePaul Community Services. She brings to People Places more than 20 years of service to children in foster care working in both private and public agencies.

“We are thrilled  to have Lisa join our team. She is respected in the field and understands the issues  that Therapeutic Foster Care and Adoption face today,” stated Doris Moore, executive director for People Places.  “Lisa shares our value of doing what it takes to meet the needs of the children and the families we serve.”

Columbo states that  “honored, thrilled, and grateful only begin to describe how I feel to have the opportunity to join such an established, well-respected, and innovative agency. I look forward to continuing to connect kids with families, providing a safe place to heal and grow. Having been welcomed so warmly to join their family, I feel I am home.”

Columbo  has worked for 11 years with DePaul’s TFC program. Previously, she worked for eight years with Tri Area Foster Families (TAFF) in Charlottesville.

Columbo  earned a B.A. from James Madison University with double majors in business management and sociology.  She graduated from VCU with her master’s degree in social work in 2001.

People Places is a Virginia-based nonprofit child welfare agency created to make healthy family living possible for troubled children who have been removed from their own homes. Our core service is therapeutic foster care, a program we helped pioneer and have continued to help improve locally and throughout the U.S. and Canada since 1973.

People Places has offices in Staunton, Charlottesville, and Harrisonburg.
