ODU 45, Virginia Tech 26 | The end of the Brent Pry tenure is nigh

ODU led 28-0 at halftime, 38-7 at the end of three, and the 45-26 final score in the win over Virginia Tech was, obviously, nowhere near as close as anybody who watched would think the game played out to be.

The Monarchs (2-1) had 334 yards of total offense in a dominant first half.

Virginia Tech (0-3) scored twice in the final 4:20 after falling behind 45-13 to make the final result look somewhat respectable, considering.

Hokies QB Kyron Drones passed for 266 yards and three TDs, but he only had 25 yards (5-of-10, 1 INT) in the first half, amassing the bulk of his stats with the game out of reach.

ODU’s QB, Colton Joseph, was 16-of-22 through the air for 276 yards and two TDs, and added 63 yards and a TD on the ground.

The dominance from ODU, a 7.5-point underdog coming in, was shocking to the home crowd, with an announced attendance of 57,627 having largely cleared out at halftime.

The win for ODU was the third over Tech since 2019, in a stretch of six games, and the first for the program in Blacksburg.

This can’t bode well for fourth-year Hokies coach Brent Pry, whose record drops to 16-24 with the loss.

You can expect the calls from the Tech faithful for the administration to make a change to heat up.
