Mid-majors announce BracketBusters schedule

Chris Graham

Three CAA teams were selected for televised games in the 10th annual Sears BracketBusters, which will be held Feb. 17-18, 2012. The CAA had the second-most teams chosen for televised games of any of the participating 16 conferences, trailing only the Missouri Valley.

It’s the fifth time in the past six years that at least three CAA teams were chosen for televised matchups in the event, which provides programs a chance to face top non-conference opponents about three weeks before Selection Sunday.  The CAA has posted an impressive 16-10 record in televised games over the past seven years, including a 4-1 mark last season.

On Friday, Feb. 17, VCU (18-5) will host Northern Iowa (14-9) at 7 p.m. on ESPN2. On Saturday, Feb. 18, Drexel (17-5) visits Cleveland State (18-4) for an 11 a.m. game on ESPNU and Old Dominion (14-9) travels to Missouri State for a 5 p.m. contest on ESPNU.

In other matchups involving CAA teams, George Mason hosts Lamar at 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 18 in a game that will be televised on ESPN3. Also in action on Feb. 18, Delaware is at home versus Hampton, Georgia State entertains Texas-San Antonio, Hofstra hosts Siena, James Madison goes to Detroit, UNCW travels to Manhattan, Northeastern is at home against Stony Brook, Towson heads to New Hampshire and William & Mary visits in-state foe VMI.
