Dr. Kevin Caffrey will speak on “Prioritizing Empathetic Communication in the Workplace” as part of the University of Mary Washington‘s Mary Talk series.

Caffrey, senior associate registrar at UMW, will discuss that just about every organization you ever work for will require “excellent communication skills,” and just about every organization you ever work for will never define what exactly that means.

In sharing his research on empathetic communication and psychological safety in the workplace, Caffrey will discuss how we can embrace empathetic communication at every level of an organization, and why that is now more important than ever.

The Mary Talk will be in person and available on streaming video on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. EST.

Mary Talk sessions are open to UMW alumni, faculty, students, community members and anyone interested in the session.

Registration is required online, and anyone wishing to livestream will receive a link to the streaming video, which can be watched live or at a later time. All participants will have the opportunity to submit questions.
