The Lynchburg Hillcats notched a comeback win on Sunday, scoring three unanswered runs to beat the Salem Red Sox, 3-1.
Lynchburg (70-66, 41-28) and Salem (64-74, 31-38) endured a one hour, one minute rain delay in the bottom of the fourth inning before resuming play.
Tied 1-1 in the ninth, Red Sox reliever Austin Glorious retired the first two hitters he faced, but then walked five consecutive Hillcats hitters to plate two runs. Mitch Longo and Nolan Jones picked up RBIs to put Lynchburg ahead.
Salem started the scoring in the fourth inning. With one out, Josh Tobias hit a solo home run, his fourth of the year, to put the Sox ahead 1-0.
Lynchburg evened the score in the sixth. Jones and Anthony Miller led off the frame with back-to-back singles, and Austen Wade delivered a game-tying RBI single to knot the game at 1-1.
Eli Morgan started for the ‘Cats, working five innings and allowing just one run on five hits, striking out eight. Adam Scott fired two scoreless innings and Luis Jimenez (Win, 3-3) also tossed two scoreless frames.
Denyi Reyes started for the Sox, and worked 3.1 scoreless innings before being lifted following the rain delay. Taylor Ahearn allowed a run in 4.1 frames before Glorious allowed the winning runs.
The two teams will wrap up the 2018 regular season on Monday. Lynchburg will send lefty Kirk McCarty (1-2, 3.12) to the mound against Salem righty Kutter Crawford (2-3, 4.67). First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. at Haley Toyota Field.

The Hillcats will host post-season games against the Potomac Nationals on September 5 and 6 at City Stadium. Both contests will start at 6:30 p.m. Fans can purchase $2 tickets, $2 hot dogs and $2 beers at the game, as part of the Back-$2-Back Championship quest.
