State News: Organizing for America announces Virginia staff
Organizing for America, a project of the Democratic National Committee dedicated to building grassroots support for President Obama’s agenda for change, announces Virginia staff: Brandyn Keating, State Director; Allison Jaslow, Communications Director, and Million Fikre, Field Director.
“I’m thrilled by the opportunity to be a part of OFA and work with the motivated volunteers that we had on the campaign who remain committed to organizing their communities to affect change in Washington,” said Keating. “The success we had over the past weekend is a clear sign that grassroots support for the President is still strong across the state, and I look forward to building an organization that will help Virginians voice their support for the President’s agenda to their representatives on Capitol Hill.”
The announcement of OFA Virginia’s staff comes following the president’s second town hall on health care reform, held in Annandale yesterday.
This past Saturday, community organizers across the Commonwealth held over 50 events for the National Health Care Day of Service where OFA supporters volunteered for a health care cause in their community. Saturday’s events were part of OFA’s vast health care organizing campaign to develop local strategies that ensures health care reform becomes a reality and to support President Obama’s three principles for health care reform: lowering costs, preserving patient choice of plan and doctor and increasing access to quality care.
