“Most business happens in the frame of a brief contact, and your success correlates with your ability to make the most of those brief contacts.” So says Frank Patterson Jr., who will be in Harrisonburg on March 5th and 6th to conduct his Making the Most of Brief Contacts program under the sponsorship of the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce and Blue Ridge Community College.

The program will be held at the Festival Conference and Student Center at JMU.

Patterson’s programs have been conducted in over 500 communities throughout the United States and Canada, according to Patty Lotts, BRCC’s Coordinator of Professional Development and Small Business Outreach. “We are delighted to offer this practical program here in the Valley,” she said.

“In today’s economy, any business can use a competitive edge. The reputation Frank Patterson has is one of providing his clients with tools they can use immediately to improve customer relations, improve morale, create unity within the organization and increase sales,” said Frank Tamberrino, Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce president.

According to the Making the Most of Brief Contacts brochure, Patterson’s topics will include: How to Explain Important Ideas in Less Than Ideal Circumstances, What Impresses the Hearer of a Persuasive Message, and How to Work Persuasively with Good People Who Fight Good Ideas.

Lotts explained that Patterson’s section titled The Seven Must-Have Making the Most of Brief Contacts Abilities emphasizes where one must be strong to maximize opportunities. The Seven Must-Have Abilities include the ability to remember names, the ability to dissolve objections and resistance instead of trying to overcome them and the ability to respond brilliantly to disenchanted or angry people.

Those desiring more information should contact Teresa Almond with Motivational Concepts, through the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce at 540-434-3862, or Patty Lotts of Blue Ridge Community College at 540-453-2340.
