Up 2-0 after the Palensky homer and a Devin Smith RBI-fieder’s choice in the third, the Generals broke the game open with a five-run fourth. Palensky got the rally going with a two-out double that scored JoJo Woods. Jacob Hoyle followed with a two-run homer, his fifth of the season, and Waynesboro added two more runs with RBI singles by Ryan Breen and Brandon Glazer.
Smith and Woods also had three hits for the Generals, who maintain their percentage-points lead in the South Division over second-place Harrisonburg.
Waynesboro returns home Thursday night, hosting New Market at 7 p.m. at Mathers Park at Kate Collins Field.
