• Ernie Clement has reached base in 18 straight games.
• UVA has not allowed a stolen base in its last 10 games (only one attempt).

Virginia-Liberty Series

Virginia leads the all time series, 34-20-1, and has won 13 of its last 14 games against the Flames, including five straight. UVA beat Liberty twice last year, winning 10-7 in Lynchburg and 5-2 in Charlottesville.

Liberty last defeated the Cavaliers on Feb. 28, 2012, in Charlottesville. UVA head coach Brian O’Connor is 10-1 against Liberty.

Virginia Against In-State Rivals

UVA is 6-3 this season against in-state opponents. Since 2004, the Cavaliers have a 117-27-1 record against in-state foes. Five of UVA’s last eight regular-season games will come against Virginia opponents.

Life on the Road

Virginia concludes an eight-game road trip Tuesday. It is UVA’s longest stretch of regular-season true road games since 1999. UVA is 6-1 in the trip, including series wins at then-No. 1 Miami and Pitt.

The Cavaliers are 10-8 in true road games this year. This marks UVA’s final road game of the regular season.

Noting the Pitt Series

• Virginia captured its third straight ACC series, including its first sweep of the year. UVA won three of its five ACC road series this season.
• Ernie Clement (6-14), Daniel Pinero (5-12) and Matt Thaiss (4-12) were UVA’s top hitters as the Cavaliers hit .297 in the series.
• UVA got fantastic starts from Connor Jones (CG) and Adam Haseley (8 IP) in Game 1 and 3, respectively.
• After squandering an early 5-0 lead in Game 2 Saturday, UVA rallied with two outs in the ninth inning on Justin Novak’s two-run double.

Noting the Win Streak

• Virginia has won five straight games, its longest win streak of the season.
• Daniel Pinero is batting .400 (8-20), while Pavin Smith has a pair of homers and seven RBI.
• UVA is batting .320 as a team, while opponents are hitting just .225.
• UVA has committed only three errors in that span (.985 fielding pct.).
• The start of the streak coincides with Ernie Clement’s move to the leadoff spot in the batting order. He is batting .364 (8-22) in that stretch.

Noting Liberty

Liberty has not played since April 27 when it won 10-7 at William & Mary. D.J. Artis leads the team in batting (.384) and stolen bases (21-23). Dalton Britt is batting .316, while Will Shepherd owns a .310 average and is tied with Andrew Yacyk for the team lead in home runs with six. Liberty is batting .283 as a team. The Flames own a 4.95 team ERA as well as a .970 fielding percentage.

Up Next

UVA will have nine days off for final exams before returning to action May 13-15 at home against No. 22 Georgia Tech.
