Fluvanna County resident in critical condition after shooting overnight in Charlottesville

One person is in critical condition after a shooting overnight in the 600 block of 7 1/2 Street SW in Charlottesville.

According to the Charlottesville Police Department, officers were called to the scene at 12:09 a.m. after a report of shots fired.

Shortly after officers responded to the incident, a 40-year-old Fluvanna County resident arrived at the hospital with apparent gunshot wounds.

The victim is currently listed in critical condition but is stable, according to the CPD.

Detectives and forensics units responded to the scene.

A search warrant was executed at a residence in the vicinity where evidence related to the shooting was recovered.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
