Election 2025: Shannon Taylor raises nearly $300K for Virginia Attorney General race

Henrico County Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon Taylor reported yesterday she has raised nearly $300, 000 with about 97 percent of the contributions coming from Virginians.

Her 2025 campaign has more than $290,000 cash on hand.

Taylor, a native of Charlottesville and graduate of UVA, recently announced her candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Attorney General of Virginia. The outpouring of support and enthusiasm comes in less than one month since her campaign announcement.

Taylor is the only Democrat who has filed to run for Attorney General, and her first fundraising report shows she is building a strong coalition across the Commonwealth that can win back the Attorney General’s office from Republican control.

“I am so honored and humbled by the support I have received from all over Virginia. This is a clear indication that Virginians want an Attorney General with experience, with a record of standing up to MAGA extremism and hate and who stands on the front lines to address gun violence and against the unceasing attempts to destroy women’s reproductive freedom,” Taylor said.

She brings more than 28 years of experience.

“I am the only candidate in this race who has put a Virginia Ku Klux Klan leader behind bars and I am the only candidate in this race who publicly announced, the day the Dobbs decision came down , that I would not prosecute any woman or her health care provider over abortion care,” Taylor said.

She invites Virginians to join her “so we can make sure the Attorney General’s office stands strong to protect our rights and our values.”

Taylor was first elected Henrico County Commonwealth’s Attorney in 2011 after years of service as a professional prosecutor at the local, state and federal levels. She continues to be a champion across the county, the Commonwealth and the United States for building a fairer, more equitable justice system that keeps all safe.
