The National Park Service released a report on Thursday that tells us the proposed 250-foot-high Arc de Trump that the Dear Leader wants to go up near Arlington National Cemetery would adversely affect the cemetery and 36 other historic properties nearby, including the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument.
The proposal currently faces legal challenges alleging that the design monstrosity violates the National Historic Preservation Act.
Trump doesn’t care, of course.
“The administration itself is confirming that Trump’s illegal arch project would massively disrupt many of the sites that draw millions of people to the capital every year,” said Eighth District Congressman Don Beyer, the author of the Arlington National Cemetery Viewshed Protection Act, which would prohibit construction of the arch.
“This is ridiculous and unacceptable, and nobody here wants it. Trump’s arch would be an enormous monument to his vanity and insecurity, and an insult to our heroes buried at Arlington National Cemetery. I will do all in my power to ensure that it is never constructed,” Beyer said.
