Congressman McEachin announces two grants for Virginia Department of Health

AFP

Virginia Department of HealthCongressman A. Donald McEachin (VA-04) announced that the Center for Disease Control awarded two grants to the Virginia Department of Health.

The first provides monies to strengthen epidemiology laboratories to better understand the origin and spread of disease. The second grant provided resources to investigate Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other unexplained infant deaths.

“These are both critical public health concerns that are being assisted by these grants. Epidemiology can help us understand how and why certain diseases spread through populations and who is most vulnerable and why. Answering those questions is a critical step in preventing the spread of disease,” said Congressman Donald McEachin. “Sudden infant death syndrome is a tragedy that no parent should have to endure. Trying to find a cure or prevent its occurrence would be a public health victory, saving numerous families from unspeakable tragedy.”
