Brain Injury Connections of the Shenandoah ValleyBrain Injury Connections of the Shenandoah Valley has been awarded accreditation from CARF International for a period of three years for its Community Services Coordination program. This is the third accreditation that the organization has been awarded since it was founded in 2005.

This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows Brain Injury Connection’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process. It has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit its commitment to offering programs and services that are measurable, accountable, and of the highest quality.

Brain Injury Connections’ Board President, Dr. Linda Meyer said, “We are pleased to have received full accreditation for the maximum period granted by CARF. This accomplishment speaks to the excellent services provided by the qualified professionals of Brain Injury Connections of the Shenandoah Valley, Inc. Most importantly, this external review may be seen as a stamp of approval validating the exceptional case management for individuals with brain injury in our area.”

The CARF surveyors noted “Brain Injury Connections has a strong focus on positive outcomes,” adding, “they maintain strong and varied partnerships in the community with organizations, schools, and other entities that help promote awareness, prevention, and positive intervention with respect to brain injuries.”

Brain Injury Connections of the Shenandoah Valley, formerly Crossroads to Brain Injury Recovery, is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to enhance the lives of individuals affected by brain injury through cultivating connections with information, services and resources. Brain Injury Connections serves the greater Shenandoah Valley area with its main office in Harrisonburg and a satellite office in Fishersville.

CARF is an independent, non-profit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF International, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
