Boston College: A long list of concerns

That Montel Harris kid, yeah, he’s good. But for Boston College to take a step up in 2010, Frank Spaziani is going to have to find Harris some help.

“His durability was one of the more impressive things about him. We certainly don’t want to make it a steady diet of handing him the ball 50 times a game. Unless of course we need to,” Spaziani said at last month’s ACC Football Kickoff of his junior tailback, who rushed for 1,554 yards as a sophomore in 2009, but logged an ungodly 308 carries to get there, including a season-high 41 in the Eagles’ 19-17 win at Maryland in November.

Harris’ productivity helped take the pressure off freshman quarterback Dave Shinskie, who returned to football after several years in minor-league baseball and threw for 2,049 yards and 15 touchdowns, but also had his struggles (14 interceptions, 51.7 percent completion percentage).

And this year, Shinskie will have to make a go of it without leading receiver Rich Gunnell (60 catches, 880 yards, seven touchdowns).

“On paper, our receivers are an area of concern. We lost Rich Gunnell, who was very productive. We don’t have that production coming back, so we have some young guys that might have to step in, and the veteran guys are going to have to pick it up. Which they haven’t done yet, but they need to,” Spaziani said.

The BC defensive line is a “major concern,” Spaziani said.

“If you don’t have defense, it’s like pitching in baseball. Your team doesn’t look so good,” the coach said.

Glenn Youngkin desperately wants a job in the Trump regime, for a reason that I can’t put my finger on: Youngkin has a net worth of $400 million, most of that his equity in the ghastly private-equity firm he led before he ran for governor in 2021.
