Members of Staunton’s Booker T. Washington High School Class of ’65 are all turning 65 years old this year. They will gather together in Staunton, then Washington, D.C., for an extended reunion and birthday celebration.
Just in from Paris, director, choreographer and producer Larry Vickers has helped choreograph a super weekend in Washington for the Fabulous Class of ’65.
They will convene at Booker T. Washington Community Center Friday morning, October 19. Makeba Robinson, Community Center Director, will shuttle them to the Staunton train station at noon for their 1:06 p.m. train to Washington, D.C.
Washington activities include visits to the new Martin Luther King Jr. monument, the Civil War Museum, a Jazz Club, a show about the Buffalo Soldiers at the Ford Theater and dinner at Carmine’s.
They will gather in front of the White House for a group photo shoot with each class member holding an “Obama for President” sign.
The group arrives back in Staunton by train Sunday, October 21, at 2:30 p.m.
Come to the Staunton train station before 1 p.m. Friday, October 19, to give the Class of ’65 a warm send off to Washington or come to the station at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 21, to welcome them home.
