Arts Council of the Valley supports community art projects in Spring Advancing the Arts grant cycle

Arts Council of the Valley will continue aiding community artists and art educators in their pursuit of artistic excellence by awarding three Advancing the Arts grants for its Spring 2018 cycle.

ACV’s Advancing the Arts grant program supports artists, art educators, and organizations working in the visual, performing, and literary arts. Funds are awarded to those that advocate for the arts as a basic, central part of lifelong learning in our community. Grants are awarded in two categories: Arts for Education, provided to educators and educational organizations, and Creative Inspiration, provided to artists.

Over the past decade, the Arts Council’s Advancing the Arts grant program has awarded over $350,000 to support community-based initiatives in the City of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.

The Council is pleased to announce its Spring 2018 Advancing the Arts grant recipients:

Arts for Education

• Creativity 3D: Keister Artists Build, W.H. Keister Elementary School Visual Arts, Mary Yoder-Anderson

Creative Inspiration

• Art Meets History and Science, Virginia Quilt Museum, Barbara Roadcap
• Story-gathering with our neighbors, Stories in three mediums, Inside Out Theatre, Heidi Winters Vogel
