Contributors

albemarleAlbemarle County tax bills for personal property and real estate are due Monday, Dec. 7. If you have any questions, have not received your Personal Property or Real Property tax bill(s), or if you have a vehicle, trailer, boat or airplane located in Albemarle County that is not listed on your bill, please contact the Finance Department at (434) 296-5851 or[email protected] before the deadline.

To avoid incurring a 10% late payment penalty, payments must be either postmarked by December 7th, or delivered in person to the Finance Office before 5:00 p.m. on December 7th. Otherwise, late payment penalty is effective the following day (December 8th) and interest at a rate of 10% per annum also begins to accrue on January 1, 2016. As established by the Board of Supervisors during the most recent budget process, the tax rate for 2015 is $0.819 per hundred of assessed value for real estate, and $4.28 per hundred for personal property.

The Finance department would like to remind residents that there are a variety of options for paying their county tax bills. In addition to paying by mail, customers can pay at our McIntire Road office by cash, check, and MasterCard, Visa, Amex and Discover cards. There is a 2.25% convenience fee passed along by the county for each card transaction.

  • Customers can also pay by phone at 1-866-820-5450 or online at www.albemarlecountytaxes.org/taxes by Mastercard, Amex, Visa, and Discover (30¢ plus 2.25% convenience fee applies) and Electronic Funds Transfer from Checking or Savings ($1.50 fee applies).
  • Customers can conveniently drop their payment at any of our three drop box locations which are clearly marked for your convenience:

401 McIntire Rd

  • Front of building – main parking lot
  • 1st floor hallway –located in the bottom of the hallway display case/bookshelves and near the Finance Department customer service windows.

  • The drive-thru window is also open during regular business hours to accept tax payments from November 1st through December 7th (Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m).

I’m totally on the side of Dianna Russini in this generated controversy over her being caught holding hands, hugging and lounging in a hot tub with New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel. Seriously, what sportswriter isn’t holding hands, hugging and lounging in hot tubs with coaches they cover? Just last week, for instance, Ryan Odom,...
