AJ Styles: Botched move was Roddy Strong’s fault

Remember the horribly botched Styles Clash on Roddy Strong in the Styles’ Ring of Honor debut match earlier this month? AJ Styles hears about it all the time, and he’s not afraid to tell you what went wrong, and why.

“Everything was great on my part; there was no slip, there was no accident by me. There was nothing that I did that went wrong. If it sounds like I’m putting all the blame on Roddy, it’s because I am. He would probably tell you the same thing,” Styles said on the Live Audio Wrestling show this week.

Styles called his finisher “probably one of the safer moves in wrestling to take,” but as you can see from this video, ugh, that was brutal.

“I don’t know if Roddy freaked out, I don’t know exactly what happened,” said Styles, who clearly has been taking some heat over the move, just based on how defensive he was in the interview on the topic.

“It’s not a reckless move. Sometimes people do crazy things that you don’t expect, and that was one of them. There’s one way you don’t want to tilt your head, and that’s forward. You can tilt it any other way you want, except forward. Any time you take a face bump, you know not to tilt your face forward,” Styles said.
