Grants generally were for $500, to fund programs that teach students about agriculture in a school or special event setting. Projects supported by the fall round of grants included school gardens and greenhouses, as well as a school fruit trellis and chicken coop, and efforts to familiarize students with the products of farms in their communities. They are expected to reach an estimated 8,000 youth.
The grant program is ongoing, and details and an application are available atAgInTheClass.org.
