I-81, I-64 slow roll closures in Rockbridge County on Sunday morning

road-work-headerOn Sunday morning, August 24, motorists should be alert for slow-roll lane closures on portions of Interstate 81 and Interstate 64 in the Lexington and Timber Ridge area of Rockbridge County. Crews will be installing fiber optic cable across I-81 at mile marker 194.8, which is near I-81, exit 195 in the Timber Ridge area.

There will be one slow-roll operation occurring between 6:30 a.m. and 7 a.m.  This time may be adjusted depending on weather.

Slow Roll – happening simultaneously

  • I-81 northbound at mile marker 190.8
  • I-64 eastbound at mile marker 56.0 – ramp to I-81 northbound
  • I-81 southbound at mile marker 198.8
  • Flagging operations at I-81 exit 195 southbound on-ramp from Route 11

Virginia State Police will be leading traffic in the slow rolls.

All work is weather permitting.

The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
