AccuWeather: Record heat on both side of the Blue Ridge this week

That early taste of fall that we had for a couple of days last week, yeah, summer’s back, and it came back with a vengeance.

Per AccuWeather, temperatures are going to be in the 90s in the Valley and Central Virginia for the remainder of the week, with real-feels in the triple digits for hours-long stretches in the middle of the day.

We’re inheriting the record heat from the weather pattern that overlay the West last week.

“After a cool week in the Mid-Atlantic, it’s a reminder that summer isn’t quite over,” AccuWeather expert meteorologist Alyssa Glenny said. “Not only will residents have to endure the heat, an influx of moisture from Gulf will also raise humidity levels, making it feel quite sticky. Some places will experience AccuWeather RealFeel temperatures as high as 110 degrees.”

Our local AccuWeather forecast has the worst day being Thursday, with a forecast high in Waynesboro at 94, and a real-feel at 104.

Charlottesville on Thursday is set for a forecast high of 97 and a real-feel at 110.

Relief is on the way – by Sunday, the forecast highs are back into the upper 70s on both sides of the Blue Ridge.
