Trump DOJ now targeting William & Mary over disadvantages to White kids

Here we go again, with the head of the Justice Department’s race-baiting division, Harmeet Dhillon, a UVA alum, taking aim at another Virginia school, this time, the College of William & Mary, alleging that White kids aren’t getting a fair shake there.

“Awarding scholarships or offering coveted opportunities to students based on the color of their skin is illegal and offends the guarantees of our color-blind Constitution,” said Dhillon, in a statement from a release in which the DOJ announced that it has opened a “compliance review” to determine whether William & Mary’s scholarships and student benefits “include racial criteria that violate Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin.”

Quick fact-check: the U.S. Constitution, not color-blind, not even close; the Constitution was written with a recognition that Blacks were held in bondage, and that they were to be counted as three-fifths of White people for the purposes of political representation.

Dhillon would have learned that long before law school, if she’d been paying attention.

The release from her office – the Civil Rights Division; they have the fox guarding the henhouse there at the DOJ – spins a narrative about four need-based scholarship programs that tells a sad tale about how kids with White privilege are supposedly discriminated against.

“We will find out if scholarships or other student benefits at William & Mary favor applicants of certain races. The department will not turn a blind eye to race-based preferences, however they are packaged or portrayed by universities,” said Dhillon, who, it’s worth noting, was born in India, and is a naturalized citizen.

But her daddy was a surgeon, so she didn’t have to lower herself to have to apply for need-based scholarships.

W&M issued a non-statement statement on the matter to tell the world that the school “is committed to nondiscriminatory learning environments across our campus and complying with all state and federal laws.”

“As a matter of practice, the university doesn’t comment on pending legal matters,” the school said in the non-statement.
