Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library & Museum will host a book talk on Tuesday, Nov. 12, with Christopher Cox, author, American attorney and politician who served as chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Cox, a 17-year Republican member of the United States House of Representatives, was a member of the White House staff during the Reagan Administration.
“Woodrow Wilson: The Light Withdrawn” offers a panoramic reassessment of Wilson’s life and his controversial role in the movements for racial equality and women’s suffrage. Wilson’s decades of opposition to the 19th Amendment, his segregation of the federal workforce and his sympathy for Jim Crow laws deeply influenced the course of American history. By exploring the aspects in detail, Cox not only provides a fresh perspective on Wilson’s presidency but also honors the unsung heroes who fought tirelessly for justice and equality.
The Book Talk will be held at 7 p.m. in the WWPL Archives and Research Center, 235 E Beverley St., Staunton.
Admission is free and open to the public, but registration is requested. The talk will be available in person and via Zoom.
Cox’s latest book, “Woodrow Wilson: The Light Withdrawn” will be available for purchase at the event.
