The latest on ongoing roads projects in the Shenandoah Valley from the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Rockbridge County
Interstate 64
* Mile marker 41 to 57, eastbound and westbound – Litter and debris removal. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
* Various locations – Ditch cleaning, mowing Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Interstate 81
* Mile marker 174 to 205, northbound and southbound – Litter and debris removal. Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
* (NEW) Various locations – Bridge rail repair, Monday night to Thursday morning, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
* Various locations – Ditch cleaning, mowing, herbicidal spraying, litter and debris removal. Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Primary Roads
* Route 60, eastbound and westbound – Shoulder work from Buena Vista City eastern limits to Amherst County line. Flagger traffic control and pilot truck, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
* Route 130 (Glasgow) – Bridge construction at Route 501. Periodic single-lane traffic with flagger traffic control, signs posted. Monday to Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday, 7 a.m. to noon. Use extreme caution as motorists become acquainted with new traffic pattern. Completion is in September 13, 2010.
* (NEW) Various roads – Bridge maintenance. Single-lane traffic, flagger traffic control, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Secondary Roads
* Route 602, northbound and southbound – Bridge over Walker Creek Tributary. Pipe culvert work. Shoulder closure or single-lane traffic with flagger traffic control, Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 670 (Beatty Hollow Road) – Bridge over Walters Creek. Bridge replacement from Enfield Road to Borden Road. Road closed, 8 a.m., Oct. 13 to 4:30 p.m., Oct. 16. Detour signs posted
* Route 679, eastbound and westbound – Bridge over Falling Spring Run. Pipe culvert work. Shoulder closure or single-lane traffic with flagger traffic control, Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 688, northbound and southbound – Bridge over Crawford Creek. Pipe culvert work. Shoulder closure or single-lane traffic with flagger traffic control, Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 757, northbound and southbound – Bridge over Stony Run. Pipe culvert work. Shoulder closure or single-lane traffic with flagger traffic control, Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* (NEW) Various roads – Bridge maintenance. Single-lane traffic, flagger traffic control, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
* Various roads – Brush cutting, patching. Single-lane traffic, flagger traffic control, Monday to Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
* Various roads – Grading.

Augusta County
Interstate 64
* (NEW) Mile marker 87 to 99, eastbound and westbound – Litter and debris removal, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Interstate 81
* Mile marker 205 to 237, northbound and southbound – Litter and debris removal. Monday, to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
* Mile marker 219.1, northbound and southbound – Bridge over Route 654. Bridge painting. Alternating lane closures, Sunday to Thursday, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
* Mile marker 222 to 225, northbound and southbound – Bridge over Lewis Creek. Bridge repairs. Possible shoulder closures, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Possible lane closure, Monday to Friday, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
* Mile marker 227 to 229, northbound and southbound – Bridge over Middle River. Bridge repairs. Possible shoulder closures, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Possible lane closure, Monday night to Friday morning, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
* (NEW) Various locations – Bridge rail repair, Monday night to Thursday morning, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
* Various locations – Ditch cleaning, mowing, litter and debris removal. Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Primary Roads
* Route 11 – Street sweeping, Monday to Friday.
* (NEW) Route 250 – Litter and debris removal from Route 42 to Route 262. Signs posted, Monday to Friday.
* (NEW) Route 250 (Churchville Avenue) – Road work from Route 11 (North Augusta Street) to Albemarle Avenue. Possible single-lane traffic, flagger traffic control, Wednesday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
* (NEW) Route 262 – Mowing from Route 250 to Route 11. Mobile operation, signs posted, Monday to Friday.
* (NEW) Route 262 – Road work from Route 11 to Route 262, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Use extreme caution as motorists become acquainted with new traffic pattern.
* Route 262, westbound – Construction of acceleration lane extension from Middlebrook Avenue to Route 262. Lane closures, flagger traffic control, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Estimated completion is October 9.
* Route 340 – Street sweeping, Monday to Friday.
* Route 340 (Waynesboro) – Construction from Route 250 to Delphine Avenue for railroad bridge replacement and roadway widening, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Expect minor delays from Broad Street to Sixth Street for construction work. Seventh Street closed from Winchester Avenue to Commerce Street until January 2010, and Sixth Street closed from Delphine Avenue to Commerce Street, until late January 2010, for retaining wall construction, bridge and utility work. Delphine Avenue closed from Hopeman Parkway to Main Street, Oct. 19. Estimated completion is November 2011.
* (NEW) Various roads – Bridge maintenance. Single-lane traffic, flagger traffic control, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
* Various roads – Litter and debris removal.

Secondary Roads
* (NEW) Route 626 – Patching from Route 744 to Route 612. Traffic control, Monday to Friday.
* (NEW) Route 629 – Bridge maintenance from Route 250 to Route 220, Monday to Tuesday.
* (NEW) Route 693 – Patching from Route 701 to Route 662. Flagger traffic control, Tuesday to Wednesday.
* Route 694 (Virginia Institute Way) – Rural rustic from Route 711 to Route 712. Road closed to thru traffic, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Estimated completion is Nov. 2.
* Route 746 – Brush cutting from Route 745 to Route 616. Traffic control, Monday to Friday.
* Route 774, northbound and southbound (Cline River Road, New Hope) – Bridge over Middle River. Bridge replacement activities from Route 608 (Battlefield Road) to Route 775 (Craig Shop Road). Road closed from Mar. 30 to Nov. 13. Suggested detour: Northbound traffic take Route 608 to Route 778 (Knightly Mill Road) to Route 775 to Route 774. Southbound traffic take reverse of northbound detour.
* Route 794 (Sangers Lane), eastbound and westbound – Bridge over Christians Creek, from Route 792 (Basley Road) to Route 642 (Barren Ridge Road). Bridge replacement. Road closed, 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week, until Dec. 16. Suggested detour: Westbound traffic, take Route 792 south to Route 250 (Jefferson Highway) east to Route 642 north to Route 794. Eastbound traffic, take reverse of westbound detour.
* (NEW) Various roads – Bridge maintenance. Single-lane traffic, flagger traffic control, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
* Various roads – Mowing, machining dirt roads. Mobile operation, Monday to Friday.

Rockingham County
Interstate 81
* (NEW) Mile marker 237.51 to 263, northbound and southbound – Patching. Mobile lane closure, Thursday, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
* Mile marker 237.51 to 263, northbound and southbound – Fence repair, litter and debris removal. Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Primary Roads
* Route 42 (Main Street, Dayton) – Dayton Days Festival from Route 257 (Mason Street) to Route 732 (Eberly Road). Road closed, flagger traffic control, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Oct. 3.
* Route 211 (New Market Road) – Cable installation from Route 960 (Water Wheel Road) to Shenandoah City limits. Right shoulder closure, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 290 (College Street, Dayton) – Dayton Days Festival from Route 42 (Main Street) to Route 732 (Eberly Road). Road closed, flagger traffic control, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Oct. 3.
* Route 340 (North Side Highway) – Car Parade from Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) to Route 1706 (Shenandoah Avenue). Road closed, flagger traffic control, 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Oct. 10.

Secondary Roads
* Route 655 (Lawyer Road) – Cross Country Race from Route 1801 (West Donnagail Drive) to Route 674 (Bluff Road). Intermittent road closure, flagger traffic control, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Oct. 3.
* (NEW) Route 712 (West Mosby Road) – Overhead work from Route 712 (Harrisonburg City limits) to route 701 (Pike Church Road). Shoulder closure, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 724 (Trinity Church Road) – Road widening from 0.70 mile east of Buffalo Drive (Route 238) to 0.20 mile west of Route 717 (Indian Trail Road). Single-lane traffic, flagger traffic control, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* (NEW) Route 726 (Erickson Avenue) – Road work from Route 33 (Rawley Pike) to Route 726 and Harrisonburg City Limits. Eastbound lane and shoulder closure, flagger traffic control. Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 727 (Airport Road) – Grade/slope work from Route 11 (Main Street, Mount Crawford) to Route 696 (Kiser Road). Right shoulder closure, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* (NEW) Route 793 (Endless Caverns Road) – Intersection upgrade from Route 11 (North Valley Pike) to Route 620 (Mountain Valley Road). Right shoulder closure, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 843 (Cemetery Road) – Road work at Route 641 (Cave Hill Road) and Route 650 (Power Dam Road). Intermittent single-lane traffic, flagger traffic control. Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 867 (North River Road) – Construction entrance from Route 11 (Main Street) to Route 693 (Fairview Road). Right shoulder closure, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* (NEW) Route 981 (Rockingham Pike) – Turn lane installation from Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) to Route 829 (Independent Road). Right shoulder closure, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Route 1208 (Mill Street, Dayton) – Dayton Days Festival from Route 42 (Main Street) to Route 1206 (Eastview Street). Road closed, flagger traffic control, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Oct. 3.
