If you want to see some excellent, sophisticated art, don’t miss the current exhibit at the Staunton Augusta Art Center, which ends this Sunday, Feb. 19, 1-4 p.m.

We have been very proud to host this exhibit, Divergent Visions: The Graduate Art Faculty of James Madison University, which includes drawings, paintings, photographs, and some very interesting installations by especially well-trained, talented artists who also teach in higher education.

One of our most popular exhibits is the annual juried Youth Art Show, which opens Sunday afternoon, Feb. 26, 1-3 p.m. and runs thru April 1. We will be displaying the very best works from each of 42 area public, private, and independent schools, Pre-K thru 12th grade.  There will be over 300 new pieces created by some amazing, aspiring artists.  We are proud of them and very proud of their teachers.  Please come admire and celebrate their work.

Regular Staunton Augusta Art Center gallery hours are 10-5 M-F, 10-4 Sa, and 1-4 Su.  The gallery is located in the R. R. Smith Center for History and Art at 20 S. New Street in historic downtown Staunton across from the Visitor Center and public parking garage. There is no admission charge to visit the galleries and everyone is welcome.

If more information is needed, please call the Staunton Augusta Art Center at 540-885-2028 or visit www.saartcenter.org.
