O, say, can she sing! Brown wows crowds before games

If you’ve been to a Waynesboro Generals game recently, you’ve heard Nikki Brown sing the National Anthem, and probably left thinking … wow!

Brown, who has been singing the National Anthem before Generals home games the past three seasons, also lends her voice to functions such as weddings and contest as well as her church group.

“I do a lot of other things, but singing here (at Generals games) is my favorite,” Brown said.

It all started when “her biggest fan,” her husband, Chris, met the owners of the team and recommended her.

She has been singing since she was 4 years old, and considers herself a natural, but she still has to dispense of pregame nerves with a Dr Pepper and socializing with fans.

The entire Brown family – the couple has four children – comes out to support her at home games, and, of course, stays for the remainder of the evening.
