With investments from the Affordable Care Act, the National Health Service Corps has supported nearly 14,000 health care providers between 2009 and 2013, including 160 in Virginia.

UVa. men’s soccer plays host to UConn. Friday in NCAA Quarterfinals

UVa. will play host to Connecticut at 7 p.m. Friday at Klöckner Stadium in the quarterfinals of the 2013 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship. The advancing team moves on to the NCAA College Cup, slated for Dec. 13 and 15 in Philadelphia. The eighth-seeded Cavaliers advanced to the quarterfinals after a 3-1 win over ninth-seeded Marquette Sunday.

Down a man, UVa. men’s soccer advances to Elite Eight with 3-1 win over Marquette

Despite playing a man down for the final 89 minutes, the Virginia men’s soccer team defeated Marquette, 3-1, Sunday afternoon in the NCAA tournament’s round of 16 at Klöckner Stadium. The eighth-seeded Cavaliers (12-5-5) advance to play the winner of the UCLA-Connecticut match next weekend in the NCAA quarterfinals.

UVa. basketball tops Missouri State, 83-63, to win Corpus Christi Challenge

Sophomore Justin Anderson sparked a first-half comeback as Virginia posted an 83-63 win over Missouri State Saturday in the championship game of the Corpus Christi Challenge at American Bank Center. Anderson scored 17 of his game-high 23 points in the first half to lead the Cavaliers to their first tournament championship in the Tony Bennett era.

Job status of Mike London appears secure despite 2-10 campaign

The last two UVa. football coaches responsible for 10-loss seasons – Sonny Randle in 1975 and Dick Bestwick in 1981 – were handed pink slips for their trouble. Al Groh got a pink slip from his alma mater in 2009 after going 3-9. Mike London, fresh off a 2-10 campaign, his third losing season in four years, appears to be on his way back in 2014.
