Audiences at WTA’s Gateway on Saturday, June 29, will listen to the winners from the last six Gateway Talent Nights and crown the winner in the grand finale. Hosted by Lorie Strother, the Dreaded Blues Lady, the performance will feature eight performers who were selected by Gateway audiences as the best performers in the monthly Talent Nights. The winner of the final round will receive a cash prize, a professional video and a paid gig at WTA’s Gateway in the Fall.

Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance announced this week that The Steel Wheels as this year’s Grand Marshals of the Valley Fourth Parade. The “Get Outdoors” themed parade takes place Thursday, July 4, leaving from the Rockingham County Administration Building at 6pm and marching south to the City Municipal Building.

Older Americans Month activities held at the Staunton Senior Center last week were found to be both fun and successful. Activities ranged from the reading of humorous stories focusing on light-hearted aging and special recognition of ten wonderful members who have attained the ninety and above age status.

Kevin Chisnell closes out his popular monthly show, Mojo Saturday Night, with Erin Lundsford and The Smokey Bandits. He discovered the group at the last Waynesboro Chili, Blues and Brews Festival and was impressed by the response of the audience that did not want them to leave the stage. The May performance of Mojo Saturday nights is at 8 pm on May 18. Doors opening at 7:30pm.
