Wynonna and The Big Noise will perform at The Paramount Theater as part of their National Tour, A Simpler Christmas on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 at 8 p.m. The “A Simpler Christmas” Tour will be an intimate and joyous performance that will showcase Wynonna’s legendary voice in a set of inspirational Christmas favorites, plus some of her greatest hits.

Bert Carlson was ready to return to Wayne Theatre Alliance’s Gateway after his February 2012 performance, but his career was interrupted by a medical emergency. Now he is back and raring to go with a concert at WTA’s Gateway on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 8 p.m.

While regional and state opera houses have been shutting their doors across the country, the opera program at James Madison University is standing strong. “The academic world will need to take on more responsibility for keeping those traditions going,” says Don Rierson, director of JMU Opera Theater.

As the Waynesboro Players gear up for their fifty-second season, they decided to look back at some of their favorite musicals and original productions. They will share those memories in a special presentation at WTA’s Gateway on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26.

WTA’s Gateway has become known for its Custin Jazz Series. National jazz artists have brought everything from the great American songbook to Cool Jazz sounds to the Gateway’s audience. Now the series brings the fountainhead of American jazz. On Saturday, the Mill Street Ramblers Dixieland Band will perform the music that made New Orleans famous.

Clair Myers, producer of the River City Radio Hour, says, “We have a wealth of talent on the October Radio Hour.” To prove his point, he announced that Dr. Stephen Levine and the Dreaded Blues Lady, Lorie Strother, and the dynamic duo of Chet and Jill will join the Boogie Kings for a jam-packed musical hour on Friday, October 18.
